No time to count

Every season can be counted by the stars.
Every hour of your life is small by comparison.
Counting minutes and seconds won't change the outcome.

Days and months can seem to be just a clutter.
Thought without perception or meaning.
Just living without a purpose or plan.

They tell you to live each day as if it were your last.
I choose not to do that.
I try to live each day as if it were my first not my last.

With the future in my hands.
To see the seasons change.
To see the sun rise to start a new day.

To value the moments in time.
To love and be loved.
To learn and to teach.

To inspire with my words.
When you have ALS every decision you make has an impact.
Not just for me but everyone around me.

I have chosen life.
This my choice.
How can I feel sorry for myself.

When each day brings new surprises.
New challenges to face.
The unexpected moments of time.

Live well and dance in your underpants

Patrick

How lovely- especially the idea of living each day as your first! I Think of the awe in the face of a child with wonder. So glad you are keeping that sense of wonder despite the challenges! Donna

Patrick, what beautiful writing! This poem is full of words of hope and inspiration and shines like the sun. I hope you enjoy many more seasons, sun rises, and starry nights. Live each day by not counting each day!

My favorite of all..

Dear Patrick,
What a beautiful writer and poet you are.
Sincerely,
Laura.

Thank you, Patrick, for what you give to us.
