i just registered in this forum to pass this information, one of my relatives wife has ALS she managed to catch it early ,they been living together for more than 20 years now.
recentrly though he was also daiagnoised with ALS ( LATE STAGES ).
i just can't believe that he didnt get it from her, it is really hard to consider this as a coincidence.

unfortunalty for him it seems like its in very late stages. i really hope they find a cure for it one day :(

Honestly this doesn't deserve an answer.

CALS everywhere would be diagnosed if this were true.

CALS plus ALS doctors and nurses. If the diagnoses are correct ( living 20 years without a vent is not unkniwn but very unusual) you are describing the very rare phenomenon of marital ALS. The best explanation appears to be that two people who have some vulnerability to ALS if exposed to a trigger or series of triggers marry and live in the places, eat the same food etc

I hope no one takes this seriously.

It would be a nightmare beyond imagining, but I would certainly look to enviornmental factors.

If a disease is contagious, it's obvious to every medical professional.
Since 1869, no professional has asserted ALS to be contagious.
ALS is not contagious.

Can there be a coincidence where two closely related people get ALS?
I think yes.
Of the, probably, half million people who have had ALS since the disease was discovered, I think it's fair to think that there will be plenty of interesting coincidences.

ALS is not contagious.

I have a friend (no really, I'm no typing one of those stupid stories that starts this way)

She and her husband went to the skin specialist together for a full check over and BOTH were diagnosed with melanoma. Both were treated, he died.

A couple of years later she remarried. After only 3 years, the new husband was diagnosed with melanoma. He died.

My theory is that she is a carrier and her husbands are catching the more deadly strain from her because she has lived a long time and they keep dying.

Makes as much sense as the opening post here :)

Yes I'm being stupid but things are quiet here lately.

Oh thank goodness it's not contagious!
Now I can stop worrying about the weakness in my rabbits ears.
All they do is flop!

Oh, common guys. This was leowl's first post, honestly sharing his/her concern. It takes a lot of guts to post on a forum, and I'd like to encourage people to post their honest concerns.

He logged off prior to any of the replies and has not yet been back.
