24 is very young--if he cant support you, ok, but you need to turn to those that can like your roommate or girlfriends and realize that you cant change boyfriend.
As a mom of a 24 year old, look long and hard at this boy though. is he really good boyfriend material? is he good husband material? father material? maybe some day he will be, but doesn't sound like he is now. throwing things around? really? I guarantee there are 24 yo men who are mature enough to stand by your side but he is not one of them.
as far as the ex--no good will ever come from remaining "friends". you don't have to be enemies, but you need to move on if you are in another relationship. Just sayin.
