sucking through straw/ smoking

GalFriday, my PALS finds that smoking helps get a cough going as he has a lot of thick saliva problems and mostly the cough really is in his throat not his chest, but you still need a good cough ability to clear the throat properly.

I would think a cough assist would be wiser, but he won't use one.

The constant burning of clothes and bits of him irritates me I must admit ...

I have made something far better than that, but he thinks it is hilarious to burn holes in his clothes, doesn't care if he does, and just wants to carry on his own way. I have weighed up in my mind - do I spend the last of his life arguing with him and forcing things that trigger ftd rages, or do I just laugh with him and say WTF, it is what it is.

I've chosen the second path

I'll give an example - any time he has any kind of progression and I put some equipment or routine change into place to cope with the progression he views that I am punishing him.

Sorry, I don't want to hijack the point of this thread with stuff that should go into the ftd section.
