Pulmonlogist Appointment Done

Thanks for posting some great information that certainly will help people like me with a lot of questions!

My FVC fell precipitously between clinc visits. Now down to 71%. I feel like I'm in Denver! Bipap makes me crazy...even after 3 adjustments. Guess I know my failure mode.

I had my first appointment with my pulmonologist today. He took a history, listened to my breathing, and we chatted. My paliative care doc asked for the visit as a baseline because I have no breathing issues yet. I go back in 3 months, and it makes some sense to keep that appt if I am able. But I'm not convinced about seeing the neurologist again in May. Doesn't seem worth the effort.

[stay on top of your fvc. talk to breathing specialist about exersize called stacking air and start doing it regularly to maintain good fvc. improved mine from 86 to 93 in 6 months

My fvc tested normal in late December. I didn't know about stacking air exercises. Thanks.

some measurements are fvc and some total volumn. total volumn can exceed 100% which mine did when being diagnosed in feb/2010. fvc gives a truer representation of your breathing

I'm happy for you. Keep thinking positive. Have you looked into the diaphragm pacemakers? I wish you the best.
