If it is IBM, are there any possible treatment options for you guys? Maybe you haven't gotten that far yet in the discussions. I don't know much about it, but again, wishing you and your family the best. Keep us posted.

No cure. There are some that elect treatment but what is available isn't very helpful if it works at all and the side effects do more harm. About the only things that help are diet and exercise and that is mostly in hopes of maintaining what you have, and symptom management. We haven't been able to really discuss with our physician yet. The good thing is that it appers to progress slower in younger individuals. It doesn't normally affect breathing to much either. It can cause dysphasia in more than half the patients. Normal progress is walker in about 5-10 and eventually a wheelchair has to be used along with all the other bells and whistles. It is not considered to be a fatal dz. Just very progressive and debilitating.
