And it is for the same reasons that we celebrate ours for. Do you also have an Independence Day or was Canada not owned by anyone. I told you I was bad in History. Although I did take American History in college and passed them both with an A..but again that was American History.

Our Thanksgiving is for the same reason, giving thanks for a bountiful harvest at the end of the growing season. Our growing season end earlier than yours and by November 24 we are all hibernating in our igloos :) so we have an earlier date for thanksgiving.

We don't have an independence day but we do have Canada day on July 1 when we celebrate Canada becoming a separate country from Britain in 1867. Like Australia, New Zealand and other Commonwealth countries Canada is an independent country that still has the British monarch as our head of state.

Thanks for the history lesson! I wonder if my children learned any of this in school? I guess I will hunt them down ask. Glad you were here to celebrate!
