I have been twitching since Nov. no weakness, just a funny sensation in ankle and carpal tunnel like sensation in right hand and wrist. The twitches are usually one single bump here and there. Sometimes they land in one spot for a few seconds and when I move they disappear. Are these like ALS twitches?

There are many other things that may cause twitching of the muscles. Try not to jump to any conclusions like ALS without seeing a doctor to rule out the many, many other things it could be besides ALS.
I've had carpal tunnel for probably 30 years, but it had nothing to do with ALS. Depending on the amount of exercise I did or did not get at the time I've had muscle spasms and twitches all my life.
A lot of times when we read about a disease and some of it's symptoms we say Oh yes that must be what I have. Get a good doctor to check you out and ease your mind about any symptoms you may have. If you really want to rule out ALS go to the nearest ALS clinic near you and see an ALS specialist.
There is no one test that can say you have ALS. They make that Diagnosis by ruling out all other things that may be causing your problems. The tests alone can cost a small fortune.
Peace.

God Bless

Hi Momoftwo. I've twitched for years, to the point where I forgot about it all. even after other symptoms kicked in, the doc's had to make me notice the twitches. Now I have a bunch of symptoms but that's all. I still work, still play with my grandchildren, still do most hobbies I like. And the docs still don't know what is wrong with me. So if people are tellling you to try to keep busy and try to stay calm, they are giving you good advice. there are a lot of things that can cause these symtptoms and they are all treatable except for ALS. And that disease is rare. So go hug your children and get ready for summer! regards, Cindy
