Come For Tea

I love you Aly. Be safe and have a whole heck of a lot of fun.

Thank you all for the wonderful conversation. As I am having my tea, why do I always hear this voice when I am
putting just a little sugar sub. in my cup. It says, "Not to much rat poisoning."
I know that stuff is not good for me, any more than sugar. (I am diabetic) I shouldn't use any in my tea.
So, when you poor me a cup, refuse to give it to me. :)

Be safe Aly and have fun!

Ok Gentleman Jim, you're shut off of the sugar! You wouldn't be able to find it in my house anyway. I never use any sugar in my tea, but I like lemon when it's cold tea.

Aly, when are you leaving for your trip? Keep us posted even when overseas.

Liz, you are a daredevil these days! I'm impressed... I think coming to the ocean this summer should be next on your list :)

Speaking of which, guess I won't be going to the beaches (at least when anyone is around)... I took the afternoon off yesterday and went to a friend's pool, which was wonderful... had steps to sit on, floated and swam a bit, not too much. But I guess even that little bit was too much as when I was trying to step down from their house to the deck, my "good" leg collapsed on me, and down I went! Crunching my "good" toes so badly I finally went with my daughter to get them xray'd last night. Though they're now swollen and bruised (not quite the same color blue as my "bad" toes), they thankfully are not broken. Not to mention I got a flat tire yesterday... twice (same tire, pumped up, went down again). So I have my purple "constellation" pattern brace for my left foot/leg, and a blue soft "boot" for my right foot. Didn't get home 'til 2a.m.

I'm pooped, its rainy, and I have to call my friend to come and fix my car so I can send hubby to go get my boys from scout camp.

I'm going to get my nice hot tea and stop *****in'...

Helen, dear friend, do you feel like Charlie Brown with the cloud above his head right about now? Your fatigue led to such an unpleasant "surprise". The first few times my legs suddenly gave out were such a shock. Resting up today is just what you need. Helen, those poor toes. I know it really hurts. Did you use to find being at the beach, doing nothing but sitting and reading, was totally draining? I did...but always had super energy the following day.

Aly, Safe travels! But wait...when do you leave? LOL, today or tomorrow? Of course, you can't give us a date or day of the week, New Zealander!

I could never drink tea unsweetened for very long. Coffee is a different story.

Liz, enjoy your day. Giving you a kiss, too.

OK, I have a story...my hospice aides were talking and carrying on--with my nearly mute smile noted (they loved that I was entertained)--but my transfers to and from the shower chair were done without them looking at what they were doing. They left me in a total mess for Phil to deal with later...and as a result, I had to tell the RN no more aides or showers. She will tell the aides what happened, and my conclusion that they were looking at each other or could never have done what they did. As a friend noted, Phil just cannot find anyone to give him help. He has his own cloud following him around overhead. When I have to stick to bed baths, the aides can return--but they never figured out how to position me in bed, either--Phil had to leave work and come over to pack my head into position. There is only one hospice in our area...

Oh Ann, that really sucks, nothing like having a nice soak in a tub or feeling that water. It did feel so good in the pool yesterday, but did have a bit of trouble with that top step.

Why can't the aids PAY ATTENTION to what they are doing? Isn't there a checklist that they need to follow to make it easier for you? It would also make it easier for them I would think...

Hope both of our dark clouds clear up soon honey.

Going to go take a nap on my couch...

Helen and Ann, I just want to rush over and hug you both. I'm sorry about your clouds. It just be's that way sometimes.

I love ya!

Hi everyone!
Ann, I wish I lived close to you. I would be honored to lend a hand to you.
We have the same problem with my mother in law and help . She had her leg amputated last month (Don't smoke folks, this could happen). Some aides and nurses are not careful or really don't give a crap. She fell this week when the left her on the commode. People should do their job or find another one. She tried to get up and down she went. Hopefully she will be out of the hosp. today and back to rehab for her prosthetic.
Helen, I hope your better today. Since you know Tampa it took me an hour and a half from Tampa Gen to my house. It usually takes 30 min . All streets were flooded.
Ok I'll stop *&%$ too!
Have fun Aly!

Have fun on your trip Aly!

Helen so sorry for your fall but glad you enjoyed your swim! Don't let those grey clouds fool you into thinking you need to curl up and hide. Learn to dance in that rain girl, because the storm cannot take your joy if you do not let it!

Ann, so sorry your hospice aids are not working out. I know thats gotta be frustrating! I too wish I could be there to help you out. I pray that your joy not be deminished by the circumstances, but rather be amplified by the Spirit that dwells in you!

Jim...the type of sugar for your tea that I give you is 'virtual' sugar and it has no calories, does not affect the blood sugar and litterally tastes as sweet as the person who tastes it! So your tea will be sweet enough!

Ok then, after 4 days of toiling over state paperwork for my son, I am finally back into my social world. Although I am a little miffed that we had 3 1/2 days of sunshine while I was doing the paperwork, but when I finished it, the clouds have moved in and we are overcast. :( A busy day today with errands to run and the foot specialist to figure out what to do with an expensive AFO he had made for me that has given me Planter facitis (if I spelled that correctly).

Still no job for John and nothing in the horizon. He is really depressed or in some kind of funk where he just sits all day on the couch with his laptop. So many things he could be doing to help around the house....just cannot get him to move except to take lil one to horse riding or take me to my errands. Keep up the prayers please!

Joyce, you got it Babe.

Joyce,
Got you covered too. Don't worry he'll find the perfect fit :)

Joyce, you have my prayers. We had a similar situation in, I believe, 1981. Phil recently revealed the fact that he'd prayed for the economy to take his job at that time. Six months later he got the job of his life's dream...before which time he didn't even realize could be an option. It's a crazy story with too many coincidences. You never know what is around the corner. And it's a good thing I didn't know Phil had prayed way back then to lose his job, snort. ;-)

I do have peace about the aides. My RN is teamed with one of them and will tell both of them what happened due to their not paying attention to their work. Phil is perturbed, however. When I need the aide(s) again, my belief is that it'll work out fine.

AK mom,

Are you serious? Jim...the type of sugar for your tea that I give you is 'virtual' sugar and it has no calories. Or
are you pulling my chain. Virtual sugar? Talk to me.

Jim

Joyce,

I googled that "Virtual Sugar" then reread your post. You are sweet, therefore, your tea is sweet...

I am sweet, but my tea wants sweetness. Go ahead, I can take it. What are you really saying :)

Jim

Muah! There's some virtual suger for you Jim! LOL!
