Cord blood is the blood remaining in the placenta and the umbilical cord after a women gives birth.
Unlike regular blood circulating in bodies, cord blood contains stem cells, including blood-forming hematopoietic cells.
Cord blood is useful in treating genetic disorders and other illness in which stem cell transplants are used.
