Newly diagnosed als.mmn

I hope I am doing this correctly. I am a 69 year old dentist, still sort of practicing, and have been dealing with symptoms for several years. Tripping, losing hand strength, weakness etc. I have been hovering since learning of the possibility of this illness, and have now taken the step to join up. My muscle and nerve and NCV tests were abnormal, ck enzymes elevated to the 700s. Little or no fasciculations, but cramping in both hands, right arm and shoulder are a problem. Less of a problem in my left arm, but symptoms there too. My neck muscles seem weak and are sore, but no sign of bulbar symptoms. My doctor wants to start IVIG and see if my symptoms improve. My question is this. My shoulder feels like someone is squeezing it--tightly. Also, after I walk any distance, the distal half of my right foot feels the same way. No foot drop, but heavy and squeezed. Can anyone else relate to those symptoms. I think I am still in denial, but my neurologist seemed pretty certain from the get go. I am waiting to see about a second opinion once the dust settles on this new diagnosis. My apologies if this is too long!

The elevated CK enzyme indicates muscle inflammation / destruction - NOT neurodegenerative disease.
The focus should be on vascular or muscular NOT neurological.

Have they looked at polymyositis? With your elevated muscle enzymes and the suggestion of IVG therapy I am wondering if this is what they are thinking. I would ask about it.

If there is one thing I can tell you! The Neurologist needs to do a full EMG first for Diagnosis! May God have grace on you.
