ALS patient fights for federal aid (USA)May 10, 2006
In a state with no ALS Association chapter and very few resources for patients and their families, Tammy Brown is leading the fight for an increase in governmental aid and medical research.
As part of that fight, Brown and her family are headed to Washington, DC to take part in the 2006 National ALS Advocacy Day and Public Policy Conference.
“I’m to the point now where I can’t go anywhere by myself,” Brown said about the progression of her own illness. “We had to pay $5,000 out of pocket for a chair lift in our van. There is no help for patients if you have any sort of income.”
